Clean the build plate

A clean build plate is the foundation of every great print. Fingerprints and dust cause first-layer failures.

You'll need

  • Warm water
  • Dish soap
  • Microfibre cloth
  1. Pop the plate out

Wait until the bed is cool, then flex the spring-steel plate and lift it off the magnetic base.

    Why this matters
Fingerprints are 90% of all first-layer problems. Treat the plate like a camera lens.
  2. Wash with warm soapy water

Use a drop of regular dish soap and warm water. Skip the IPA — it lifts oils but leaves a residue over time.

    Pro tip
Hold the plate by the edges so your fingers never touch the print surface.
  3. Pat dry and re-seat

Dry with a clean microfibre cloth (no kitchen towel — it sheds lint), then drop the plate back onto the base.
